Mic’d Up Murrayville

Open Mic Night & Featured Artist Showcase every Thursday

Welcome to Mic’d Up Murrayville, the heart-and-soul live music night that turns Porter's Bistro into the kind of place where magic happens — every Thursday. Hosted by Shannon Lee and backed by our warm and spirited house band, Porter’s Special Blend, this is where local musicians take the stage: whether you’re a seasoned pro, a shy newcomer, or want to feel the thrill of having a band behind you.

How the Night Works

Everyone gets two or three songs, depending on the room and the list. If you want the house band to join you, they’re happy to jump in. They’ve covered everything from jazz and folk to blues, pop and the occasional surprise request that nobody sees coming.

Musicians of all ages and experience levels are welcome. We’ve had first-timers, touring artists, music students, retirees rediscovering their guitar and duos who wander in just to see what the place is about. It’s a kind, supportive crowd, and people cheer for everyone.

Our Showcase Artists

Each week we feature a 40-minute showcase by a professional or emerging performer. Many go on to bigger stages, and some already have impressive resumes. It’s a great way to hear talent from across the Lower Mainland in an intimate room where every note carries.

Our weekly showcase spot is reserved for professional or emerging professional musicians who are comfortable presenting a 40–45 minute set. If you’re interested in being considered, please send a short bio and links to your music or performance videos.

A Little History

Mic’d Up Murrayville has been running since 2015. The Featured Showcase was added in 2023 and quickly became a favourite part of the evening. Porter’s itself is a heritage building in the heart of Murrayville, so when you sing here, you’re adding your voice to a space with more than a century of stories!

Come Join Us

Whether you’re here to play, listen or just enjoy a relaxing Thursday evening with friends, you’re part of the community the moment you walk in. Bring your instrument, your voice or simply your curiosity. We’ll handle the rest.

May 21 - Bruce Coughlan

Up next: catch Bruce Coughlan on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, at Mic'd Up Murrayville for a special 40-minute showcase starting at 7:30 PM. As the frontman for the Pacific Canadian roots band Tiller's Folly, Bruce has spent five decades sharing stories through song. He brings a relaxed, engaging energy to the stage, moving easily between Celtic ballads, roots, Americana, and soul. If you enjoy great storytelling, expressive vocals, and acoustic guitar, this intimate set at Porter's Bistro is the perfect way to spend your Thursday evening.
